Make 2015 the Year of Breast Health

Now that the holiday season has passed, you are probably looking at a nice long list of New Year’s resolutions. You may already have plans to get active and eat healthier but we are challenging you to make 2015 the year of breast health!

Start with something easy, like picking up the phone to schedule your yearly check up with your family physician. Don’t forget to ask your doctor for a clinical breast examination while you’re there. If you have a history of breast cancer in your family (two or more family members, or one male family member) start a conversation with your doctor about an early detection plan that works for you.

Get to know your breasts better this year buy checking your own breasts at least once every couple weeks (the more, the better). There is no right or wrong way to do it! The key is to know what your breast look and feel like normally so that if something does change, you know to make an appointment with your physician right away.

Getting into this habit early just might be best thing you do for your health this year…or ever!

On behalf of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, wishing you and yours a happy and healthy 2015!
